Graduating in Architectural Interior Design from London's prestigious KLC School of Design, African-born but British-bred, Femi was naturally drawn into specialising in kitchen design. Also managing a kitchen showroom/studio, she has been involved in both specifying and supplying affordable beautiful bespoke and contemporary quality kitchens for residential clients.
Femi brings to her work not just her highly-focused skills in design, but a wide experience of life beyond the drawing board. Starting her career as a professional dancer Femi Taylor, she has crossed many boundaries - from West End Musicals (Bubbling Brown Sugar, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar) to films (Oola in Star Wars) .
‘My first passion was dance, which is movement in space to rhythm and sound. Dance, like design combines these elements while adding in the all-important exhilaration factor.
‘In my work I seek to achieve the natural balance of practicality, elegance, and beauty. What better space to start in your house than the kitchen - the soul of every family home, and the life of every party.’
'I love the challenge of helping to design someone's living space. It's essentially a collaborative effort. I need to know the priorities, the habits, the daily activities of each and every client I work with - it's that way you achieve a happy result.'
'Why Zambezi? Because that great African river evokes in me the idea of an effortless flow, space and fluidity. The effortless connection of each of the elements in spacial design should create a seamless impression. If it is well done, no-one ever notices it, one takes it for granted, like the flow of the river,… or mother nature herself.'
